Top French court strikes down genocide bill
Feb-29-2012--PARIS/ANKARA - France's highest legal authority ruled Tuesday that a new law that would have made it illegal to deny the mass killing of Armenians by Ottoman Turks nearly a century ago was unconstitutional, a move quickly welcomed by Turkey.
Turkey, which recognizes that many Armenians died in 1915, says "genocide" is an inaccurate term to describe the events because it argues that thousands were killed in massacres and counter-massacres led by both Turks and Armenians. Armenians argue that 1.5 million of their people were killed deliberately by the Ottoman Turkish Empire.

He also lost his son in Iraq last year. In a new book titled The Limits of Power: The End of American Exceptionalism, Bacevich argues that although many in this country are paying a heavy price for US domestic and foreign policy decisions, millions of Americans simply continue to shop, spend and satisfy their appetite for cheap oil, credit and the promise of freedom at home.

A Crucial Test for Romney
Feb-27-2012 --DETROIT-Michigan's Republican presidential primary Tuesday is more than a test of Mitt Romney's ability to win his native state. It's a test of a central thesis of his campaign: He has the best chance of beating President Barack Obama.  A Romney spokesman blasted that approach. "Rick Santorum has moved beyond just 'taking one for the team.' He is now willing to wear the other team's jersey if he thinks it will get him more votes," said spokesman Ryan Williams.

S&P Declares Greece in Default
Feb-27-2012--Greece became the first euro-zone member officially to be rated in default, 13 years after the single European currency was adopted to strengthen the European Union.
Standard & Poor's cut Greece's long-term credit rating to selective default from double-C. The move was expected, as S&P said this month that it would consider Greece in default if it added "collective-action" clauses to its sovereign debt, effectively forcing all bondholders to accept a bond-swap offering. Greece's Parliament approved that measure last week.
